On Saturday November 1st the Acworth Explorers post met up with the Newnan Explorers post to play paintball at Old South Paintball. Check out the pictures in the photobook.

Lake Allatoona Clean Up

On September 13th the post assisted the Army Corp of Engineers with a parking lot detail at Riverside Park in Cartersville. Septemper 13th was the Lake Allatoona Clean Up hosted by the Lake Allatoona Preservation Society. The explorers worked together to park over 1,000 cars on grass and asphalt lots.

Drunk Goggles Fund Raiser

At the August 30th Classic Cruiser Car Show in Downtown Acworth the Explorers Post hosted a "Don't Drink and Drive" booth. Daniel, Darin, Elliot, and Jonathan spent the evening explaining the dangers of driving while intoxicated by allowing people to see the world through drunk goggles. They also allowed people to drive a golf cart while wearing the goggles to see how well they could drive.

GBI Field Trip

On August 7th we went to the GBI Crime Lab with Dective Watson.

While there we were given taught how forensic scientists identify drugs.

We also learned how to identify DNA.

Acworth Explorers Visit the Capitol Building

Several Acworth explores had a great time visiting Georgia's Capitol building on July 24, 2008. They had an opportunity to see both the Senate and House of Representatives chambers as well as Lt. Governor Casey Cagle's office. After our tour, they were able to meet with Sgt. K. Lowe, Director of Executive Security for Governor Sonny Perdue and learn more about his job. At the conclusion of our time at the capitol, we were able to watch Governor Perdue swear in a new judge and then shake the Governor's hand as he visited with everyone watching the event.

Successful Bicycle Rodeo

Today was our second annual Acworth Explorers Bicycle Safety Rodeo and it was a tremendous success. This year we partnered with Target on Cobb Parkway in Acworth and Cobb Safe Kids. Target volunteers and Explorers spent the day training children to ride their bicycles safely in their neighborhoods and Target provided delicious hot dogs and beverages for everyone to eat and drink. Target also gave away four Target gift cards and two brand new bicycles. Cobb Safe Kids provided 60 brand new bicycle helmets that were given away to children that already have their own bicycle helmet. Thanks Target and Cobb Safe Kids for all your help in making this years bicycle safety rodeo a success.
